BLACKSTONE — The best coffee in the world, according to Alexa Manocchio, is in Doglio, a town in Italy’s Umbria region with fewer than 100 residents, and found inside a sand-colored brick building marked by a sign reading merely “BAR.”

“It was probably the most authentic experience we’ve ever had,” Manocchio said of a visit she made two years ago with her husband, Steve Poirier, near the couple’s wedding in the Italian countryside. “We get back home, and now we’ve been spoiled with three weeks of Italian espresso.”

With that high standard set, the Blackstone couple earlier this year established Doglio Coffee, which is focused on home-delivered, small-batch organic cold brew and packaged coffee beans. Manocchio and Poirier also try to recreate for their customers the relaxed and community atmosphere of their own cups of coffee in Doglio.

“It’s not just convenience, it’s really what you do with your time, what your experience is when you have that first sip of coffee in the morning,” said Manocchio, a Franklin native, “who you’re with, and being present in the moment, and a cup of coffee kind of gives you the opportunity to do that.”
