Corter Coffee Roasters has been slowly taking over the Inertia Coffee shop location in Colorado Springs, Colorado, after the latter business had essentially run its course.

The move came slightly sooner than anticipated for Corter Coffee Roasters Founders Kevin and Johanna Corter, who after about a year of roasting reached out to their friends at Inertia Coffee for general advice on starting a retail shop.

Pittsburgh-based roaster and retailer Commonplace Coffee has organized a group of eight Pennsylvania roasters to participate in a fundraiser called Be The Bridge, offering eight distinct commercial roasts of a single high-quality green coffee.

A portion of proceeds from the sale of each bag sold is being donated towards efforts to address food insecurity in the Keystone State.

With a touch of serendipity, bicycle-themed Presta Coffee Roasters has opened its third retail location inside a former filling station in Tucson, Arizona.

Nesco Home Coffee Roasters Model CR-14-13 sold between August and December of last year are involved in the recall.

Two Rivers, Wisconsin-based distributor Metal Ware Corporation has issued a recall for Nesco Model CR-04-13 Coffee Bean Roasters, commonly referred to by resellers as Nesco Home Coffee Roasters.

The voluntary recall was announced by Nesco brand owner Metal Ware and the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission yesterday following reports of overheating that caused plastic components to melt, coffee beans to burn “and/or flames and smoke to emanate from the roaster.”

Glitter Cat Barista Roasters Spotlight

While plenty of roasted coffee subscriptions focus on the roasting brand behind the coffee, precious few focus on the people behind the machines.

With green coffee generously supplied by Seattle-based Atlas Coffee Importers, Glitter Cat Barista is doing the latter, this month launching a roasted coffee subscription platform called The Roasters Spotlight.

The subscription follows the Los Angeles-based nonprofit’s stated goal of reimagining the coffee industry through accessible events, competitions and training for marginalized hospitality professionals.
