Diane Clark, director of Greystone Nature Preserve, explains to some members of the Vegetarian Society of Chautauqua the many functions of the newly remodeled cabin in the woods.

Members of the Vegetarian Society of Chautauqua County met at Greystone Nature Preserve.

Since the outbreak of the pandemic, this was the first time the society had gotten together since January 2020. It was an outdoor event with everyone vaccinated and extremely glad to be meeting and sharing a meal together again.

A large variety of vegan and vegetarian entrees were enjoyed. Members shared recipes and cooking tips and reinforced their belief that a vegetarian/vegan diet was one of the best ways to live lightly on the planet.

After the dinner, the members enjoyed a tour of Greystone Nature Preserve, including the newly remodelled visitor cabin and The Memorial Tree Grove.

The Vegetarian Society of Chautauqua County was formed in 1990 and became primarily vegan in 2000. Members get together for potluck dinners and informational talks every month, which promote veganism as the healthiest way of eating and the best step people can take to save the planet.

For information on the vegan society, please contact Anne Watkins (716) 782-4334.

Greystone Nature Preserve is dedicated to preserving 72 acres on the Lake Erie Escarpment to nurture native flora and fauna. Trails are open from dawn to dusk. For more information, contact Diane Clark, 716-679-6603.
