In a large bowl, mix the flour, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper.
Place the buttermilk in another bowl.
Dip each piece of chicken in the buttermilk, then dredge in the seasoned flour mixture, making sure to coat the chicken well.
Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or deep fryer to 350°F (175°C).
Carefully place the coated chicken pieces into the hot oil and fry for about 15-20 minutes, or until the chicken is golden brown and fully cooked, turning occasionally.
Once done, remove the chicken from the oil and place it on a wire rack to drain.
Serve the crispy fried chicken hot with your favourite sides.
