Ingredients

  • 2 cups Bisquick mix
  • ¼ cup milk
  • ½ tsp dried parsley flakes (optional)
  • ½ tsp dried thyme (optional)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 4 cups chicken or vegetable broth
  • 2 cups cooked and shredded chicken (optional for chicken and dumplings)

Instructions

  • In a mixing bowl, combine the Bisquick mix, milk, dried parsley flakes, dried thyme, salt, and pepper. Stir until a soft dough forms.
  • In a large pot, bring the chicken or vegetable broth to a simmer over medium heat. If making chicken and dumplings, add the shredded chicken to the pot.
  • Drop tablespoon-sized portions of the dough onto the simmering broth. Cover the pot and let the dumplings cook for about 10 minutes or until they are cooked through and fluffy.
  • Gently stir the dumplings occasionally to prevent them from sticking to the bottom of the pot.
  • Serve the dumplings in bowls with the broth
