Easy to make but feels a bit special. This starter can be made from supermarket ingredients in a flash.
Chives or parsley would also work well if you don’t have access to capers. Getting a visual sense of freshness and greenery is more significant.
You can also use crackers or larger slices of sourdough cut into small bite-size pieces instead of baguettes.
- 8 thin slices of baguette
- 100g (3 oz) smoked salmon, sliced
- sour cream
- capers
- lemon cheeks, to serve
Lightly toast the baguette slices on one side.
A thin layer of smoked salmon is layered between each round, along with a dollop of sour cream and plenty of freshly ground black pepper.
